Taking part in a trek requires some adventure and team spirit, sufficient physical condition and pleasure in hiking. And, most of all, you should enjoy outdoor life!

Ausgangspunkt unserer Starting point of the treks is camp Toilogt, a ger camp (large white felt tents of the nomads) in a stunning location on the western shore of Hovsgol Lake. Camp Toilogt is situated at 1650 m above sea level.

Crystal clear mountain rivers, tall pine forests and majestic mountain peaks will capture you in their outstanding natural beauty.

The lake-side is humid, and partly wet terrain is not uncommon. The scenery offers a great variety of narrow paths leading us through the magnificent forests of the north, swamps, clear rivers, hills and valleys. Feel free as a bird when riding along the famous wide open spaces of Mongolia!

Our itineraries reach a maximum altitude of 3000 m above sea level. Day temperatures reach 18 to 25 degrees Celsius, dropping to 10 to 5 degrees at night.

The solidarity you share with your travel companions and the guides is an important part of the experience. You meet people, listen to their stories and learn about other customs. Soon you will pick up a few Mongolian words and enjoy talking and having fun with our local guides.

Nomadic people are very cheerful

Get spoiled by our excellent cooking staff! You will be amazed by what they prepare in no time - for instance the dessert prepared with wild rhubarb gathered in the mountains.

You will experience great kindness, warmth and enthusiasm with people still living close to nature and to whom the blue sky and mother earth are sacred. An intimate knowledge of animals, both wild and domestic, and the environment is a major feature of Mongolian life.

Enjoy Mongolia's unique hospitality! It is an old custom on the steppes, where distances are great. Visitors are always taken in without question on arrival at a distant ger (nomadic tent).

At the end of a day, we put up our tents, lighten the camp fire which is sacred to the nomadic people, and cook some tea. It is time to rest. Stretch out in the grass and enjoy the silence in the evening sun or go for a stroll along the lake or in the nearby forest. Nobody resists the lake, even though it is a bit chilly!

You will not forget the feeling of its fresh water. And not to forget the pleasure of throwing the fishing rod into the lake!

To top it all, we end the day by sitting at the camp fire, watching millions of bright stars and the shining moon. The evenings go by with long conversations, songs and stories.
